What is Keeper Of Bees:

Keeper Of Bees is a bullet hell game made for the Bullet Hell Jam 5. You play as a many who pissed off his gardens bee hive and is trying to get rid of them. You need to fight through waves of bees, gathering upgrades to your movement and weapons along the way.

My Role and Contributions

In Keeper of Bees my main contributions were the following:

Enemy AI:

I was responsible for creating all the various enemy types defined in our GDD. Creating each of the enemies behaviours and statemachines.

Weapons and Upgrades

Multiple weapons and the weapon upgrade system was created by myself. The weapons were designed to be quickly editable from within a table containing all of the weapons variables. This allowed us to quickly balance each weapon during play-testing.

UI Backend:

I created the backend of the game UI, one that allowed all UI elements to be easily swapped in and out while also seamlessly switching the players input modes.

Reflection:

Keeper of Bees was my first game jam, for which I feel proud of. It was great being able to work with a team that could balance out my own weak points.

Although coordination and organisation was hectic at times, in the end we all learned a lot and completed the game on time.

Now I'm looking forward to making my next game.
